Where it does not, the discipline is being scoped — its outline will appear in a later edition. Broadcasting & Commentary

Salary band ₹8–40 L/yr

The most technically dense of the disciplines. Students learn every role in a live broadcast operation — from running a cable on the boundary to directing a hundred-camera world feed. The curriculum is built top-down: it begins with what a top-tier league or Olympic broadcast looks like on air, and works backwards to teach every component behind it. By Year 3, students are producing live college matches.

Every role in a professional sports broadcast.

A full top-tier match broadcast involves more than two hundred crew across three locations: the stadium, the outside-broadcast van, and the studio. The Year 2 curriculum studies each role in turn — what they do, when they do it, and which equipment they own.

Match director

The highest creative authority in the gallery. Calls every camera cut, replay and graphics trigger in real time. Makes thirty to fifty decisions per minute during play. Knows every camera position before the toss.

Vision mixer / technical director

Executes the director's cuts on the production switcher in real time — hard cuts, dissolves, wipes — across a hundred-plus inputs from cameras, replay servers, graphics and studio feeds. Speed and precision are everything.

Mid · stadium

Wide-angle camera operator

Operates the primary wide camera capturing the full field. Establishes the geography of play. Frames the field placement. Must hold a perfectly stable shot for hours.

Specialist · ground level

Stump-cam & pitch-cam operator

Runs the miniaturised cameras embedded in the stumps and at pitch level. Also manages reference cameras for ball-tracking review systems.

Aerial-cable operator

Drives the camera suspended on cables above the field. Creates the dramatic overhead and flying shots. Coordinates with safety officers on every move.

Slow-motion camera operator

Operates ultra-high-speed cameras capturing one to two thousand frames per second — the iconic slow-motion replays of bat on ball, bowling action, acrobatic fielding.

Replay-server operator

Manages all recorded material in real time. Marks clips of boundaries, wickets and key moments instantly. Serves clips to the director within eight seconds of an event.

Live-graphics operator

Builds and plays out every on-screen graphic — scoreboard, player names, statistics, speed gun, wagon wheel, pitch map, sponsor billboards — to strict broadcaster standards.

Audio engineer

Manages the entire audio landscape — crowd, commentary, stadium announcement, boundary effects, music, sponsor stings — across a ninety-six-channel desk for a fifty-million-viewer audience.

Senior · technical

Transmission controller

Manages the signal path from the OB van to satellite uplink, fibre network and OTT encoders. Ensures the picture never goes black.

The gap between great player and great coach is enormous; the two require different skills entirely. Two tracks: one for active players building credentials, one for retired players fast-tracking to a first coaching role.
